http://www.lonelycache.com, while only relevant to specific states (NM, AZ, CO, UT, NV, ID WY and west TX) is a really interesting way of assigning point value to a geocache based on how long the geocache has been active and how many people have found it. It is particularly useful for identifying those really lonely caches that haven’t been found in a long time, or have only been found by a couple people. It is logical, and slightly addictive, encouraging people to go places and attempt caches they might not otherwise. For me, it was something I would always look at when traveling the Southwest States to seek out those rare lonely caches that are sometimes forgotten. In my opinion, it helps promote the best kind of geocaching, getting out to wild areas away from the beaten track. Wish it covered the whole country, or event he world!
