A Geocaching Story ...

The short, "Reader's Digest" Version:

Sandy and I went geocaching* on our first date, the day we met. She had never gone before and I thought it would be a casual, easy going, low pressure way to meet and get to know one another.

After many more caching expeditions, I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and needed to come up with a unique way to propose to her. Geocaching seemed to be an eloquent, poetic, and meaningful way, and so the planning began ...

For the proposal, I put together a fake cache for Sandy to find. She thought we were going out for the day to find a "normal" cache. I hid the cache at the top of cliffs overlooking the Ocean near the Cabrillo lighthouse in Point Loma. Inside the cache were over 200 fake, gold, toy, gem-rings and one diamond solitaire engagement ring. We tracked down the cache and opened it while a hidden photographer was snapping photos.
