    That’s funny you didn’t know the HMS Surprise was in San Diego. I love those books (20 of them), and my caching moniker is Captain Aubrey from those books. If you haven’t read them you are missing out on the best bromance ever written. Even better than Sam and Frodo’s friendship.

    I travel to San Diego every summer for a work conference in early July. One year I went on a sail tour (3 hour tour ironically) and was stricken with intense pain after getting off of the Californian. I ended up going to the hospital with a kidney stone – I thought I was dying.

    Great podcast as always.

    It’s kind of funny…. some of those “bored tourists” don’t look like their bored, tourists, OR geocachers. Some look like they’re working on a project for something. I don’t know that those actively caching would be taking photos of bricks or reading books. I think some are just locals, carrying on with their lives and not bored at all.
