What To Do With Old Geocaching Logs

If you have ever replaced old geocaching logs with brand new ones, you might have wondered what to do with the old ones? We posted a photo on the Facebook Page "You Might Be A Geocacher If..." It was a shot Sonny took of some old cache logs – strips of paper that came out of one of our geocaches when we did cache maintenance and replaced the log sheets with new ones.

I posted the following comment: “YMBAG...If you think old scraps of paper with scribbles are kind of special. What do YOU do with old cache logs after maintenance?" Well, there were some interesting responses and ideas. Here are a few of the answers.

What to do with Old Geocaching Logs

  • Scan them and attach them to the cache page as an image
  • Usually toss them in the trunk of the Cachemobile
  • We used to have a cache in northern Virginia that was an old log library. Cache Owners were supposed to leave their old logs there. No idea what happened to them after that.
  • I add them to a scrapbook where I keep a page for each cache I have hidden
  • I keep a binder of all my caches I have placed. I have photos of what the cache looked like and exactly where I placed the cache. So I keep the old geocaching logs in my binder. It is part of the history of that cache.
  • I cannot bring myself to trash them either! I am thinking of hiding a cache full of them with the "official log" (a colorful one to make it visible) hidden in the middle.
  • Laminate, and turn them into bookmarks. Every big caching event I have attended has one as a memento.

What do you think of these ideas? What do YOU do with old geocaching logs? We'd love to hear your idea!

I like some of these ideas. I will begin attaching pics of old logs to the GC listing before tossing. A bookmark sounds fun, too. Thanks! – Gene (Bardonner)
