On Facebook one day, IolantheK, a complete stranger, asked if anyone was free to go caching that weekend. Bulldozer72 and I said why not, and a firm friendship was born. Since that day, Bulldozer and I have cached at events and in tents and on hikes and motorbikes many a time, but where I’ve been with Iolanthe is even more extraordinary. For my 40th birthday and her 50th, we flew a small 6-seater plane from Brisbane via Birdsville, Coober Pedy, Uluru and Broome up to the Kimberley, one of Australia’s most spectacular and least accessible regions, for a two-week holiday. All this from a Facebook invitation from a stranger!

In 2016, I attended my first mega event–Going Caching. I remember going to the event and they announced that new caches had just been released and that you had to find them to complete the puzzle. Immediately everyone starting jumping in cars with each other. I didn’t know anyone because I had just moved to the area a few months before. I got invited to join a group and I thought, “Am I really doing this?!” So, I jumped into a truck with four strangers and we went caching! Of course, every time that I do this all of my muggle family and friends think that I am going to get murdered!
